The Iron Claw’ is a film about the rise and fall of the legendary Von Erich family, who made a huge impact on the sport of professional wrestling in the 1960s. The film is set to star Zac Efron, who will play Kevin Von Erich in the movie. Efron also wrestled a full match over 10 times for the film.
The first trailer for the film was released earlier this year and it showed Zac Efron looking absolutely jacked as he was running the ropes, among other things. Naturally, the film is expected to be an emotional roller coaster in a big way.
Naturally, the actors had to step into the ring and actually learn moves between the ropes for the film. While speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Chavo Guerrero revealed that he worked with Zac Efron in a proper match at the request A24 Studios. He revealed that Efron wrestled a full match over 10 times for the film.
”Our first real wrestling scene in the movie is — Sean Durkin, asked me to be the wrestler in there. He’s like, ‘I need you to really set the tone of this movie.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, let’s do it.’ So when that happened, we worked a 10-minute match or a 12-minute match over and over and over again. It wasn’t just clips and clips, they wanted to get the feel of an actual wrestling match and take the parts they wanted from it. So, we did that, I mean 10-12 times.
I explained to him the first time, I go, ‘Look, the higher you jump, the easier it is going to be.’ It seems weird, but the higher you go, I can find you easier and you can find me.’ He was like, ‘Okay, I trust you,’ and he just went for it. Once he did it the one time, he did it 20 times. He could just do it, and do it, and do it, and do it.”
Zac Efron and other cast members also recently appeared for ‘The Iron Claw’ premiere as well. The film is also set to release on December 22nd this year, so we will have to wait and see whether the film will turn out to be a memorable one.
