Vince McMahon, the former board member of TKO Holdings, is facing a human trafficking lawsuit, which has had a significant impact on WWE. In an interesting turn of events, WWE has now joined Vince McMahon in filing a motion to compel arbitration in response to the trafficking lawsuit.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, alleging incidents of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking dating back to March 2019. The lawsuit contains grave accusations against these high-profile individuals, shedding light on significant misconduct within the company and calling into question the safety and integrity of the workplace environment at WWE.
As previously reported, Vince McMahon has filed a motion to compel arbitration in the Grant v. WWE et al. case, in which he denied Grant’s allegations of sexual abuse, coercion, and other related claims. This action prompted response from Grant’s legal team.
John Laurinaitis’s attorney, Edward Brennan, issued a statement confirming that Laurinaitis has also filed motion in support of Vince McMahon’s request to move the case to arbitration.
According to Brandon Thurston on Twitter, all parties in the Grant v. WWE case—WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis—have collectively submitted a proposed stipulation and order with various deadlines for their required filings.
One notable part of the document states, “WWE also anticipates filing a motion to compel arbitration and stay this action pending arbitration,” confirming that all three defendants intend to move toward arbitration.
The proposed timeline indicates that the three defendants are expected to file their motions, along with any supporting memoranda, by Tuesday, May 14. Currently, WWE is the only party that hasn’t yet filed its motion. John Laurinaitis has filed his motion, but it remains unclear if he will also submit a memorandum in support.

The filing notably mentions, “WWE also anticipates filing a motion to compel arbitration and stay this action pending arbitration”, which removes any doubt that all three defendants will be moving to compel arbitration.
It’s proposed the three defendants file their motion and any memoranda in support by next Tuesday, May 14. Only WWE has yet to file the motion. John Laurinaitis has filed his motion but hasn’t filed a memorandum in support; unclear if he will. Vince McMahon has already filed both.”
Vince McMahon’s lawyer has also reacted to Janel Grant’s motion to strike. Even McMahon was mentioned by Stormy Daniels during Donald Trump’s hush money trial. With all parties indicating a move toward arbitration, the upcoming developments could reveal more about the direction of the case and whether the matter will remain private or head toward a public trial.
