In the March 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle against Katsuyori Shibata. This victory followed Bryan Danielson’s win over Shibata on the March 16 episode of AEW Collision.
Reflecting on his win in digital exclusive, Ospreay expressed confidence that his triumph over Shibata had indeed provided him with significant momentum heading into his upcoming clash with Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty.
Ospreay emphasized Shibata’s status as the benchmark for professional wrestling, noting the difference between his victory and Danielson’s. While Danielson secured a quick flash victory over Shibata, Ospreay endured punishment throughout the match, showcasing his unparalleled endurance.
“Mate, course. The beauty of this is, myself and Bryan look at Shibata as the measuring stick of what professional wrestling is. Now, if you watch what Bryan Danielson did when he faced Shibata, I remember it, guy got a quick flash victory. Want to know the difference with my victory? I took all that punishment. No one’s got the endurance like I got that endurance.”
Ospreay highlighted the methodical nature of his victory, executing moves like the Storm-driver and Hidden Blade before securing the pinfall. He further added that his win was not a fluke but a testament to his superior wrestling ability. Despite being visibly battered and bruised from the intense match, Ospreay declared himself ready to go toe-to-toe with Bryan Danielson on April 21st, making it clear he simply couldn’t wait to get in the ring with The American Dragon.
