The stakes were higher than ever for the top prospect of WWE NXT, Trick Williams who had his final shot against NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov for his title on tonight’s edition of WWE NXT Spring Breakin after coming up short once. With his NXT career on the line, Willams left it all in the middle of the ring and reigned supreme.
The match was made official following Trick Williams’ monumental win over Carmelo Hayes at NXT Stand and Deliver with Williams agreeing to leave NXT should he fail to slay the Mad Dragon and capture the NXT Championship.
Moreover, he gained momentum following another huge win over Carmelo Hayes inside a steel cage last week, and right before his match against Dragunov, Williams had some words of motivation from his mother and NXT veteran, Johnny Gargano.
The match was everything the NXT universe had anticipated, a huge blockbuster between two of the rising prospects of the business with the top prize in the Black and Gold brand and Trick Williams’ career hanging in the balance. The action was jam-packed with the NXT fans on their feet alongside multiple main roster stars like Johnny Gargano, Ivy Nile, Creed Brothers, and New Catch Republic in attendance to watch the showdown as the bout spilled all over ringside with the crowd chanting ‘This is Awesome.’
The closing moments saw a huge back-and-forth as both men stared at each other and connected with the Trickshot to put down the Mad Dragon for the three count and win the NXT championship for the first time much to the delight of the audience and a show of respect by the fallen champion, Ilja Dragunov as Trick Williams becomes the measuring stick of WWE NXT.
