WWE and UFC made headlines when their merger was completed. Over 100 firings in WWE followed this, and the entire pro wrestling and business world was paying attention. Tony Khan obviously saw what was going on in WWE, and he said what he could on the matter.
On September 12, WWE and UFC officially confirmed their merger to establish a new publicly traded company named TKO. Stock prices started off good, and they increased from there. At this point, the new TKO Holdings Group is very confident about the future.
While speaking to Insider, Tony Khan was asked about the merger. He said that the whole thing is “fascinating,” and then he went on to discuss things the way he sees them.
“It is fascinating. It will be interesting to see what happens in the world of sports, combat sports, and pro wrestling. I love pro wrestling, it’s an amazing business. I think there are a lot of really exciting things happening with sports media rights.”
Both WWE and UFC will maintain their independent operations under the Endeavor umbrella. They will also keep media deals separate.
The merger had initially been announced on April 3 but was only officially completed last Tuesday. WWE is presently in the midst of negotiations for its media rights agreements concerning WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown, as their current contracts are set to expire in 2024.
The new TKO Holdings Group is set to take off with all the steam and momentum they can right out of the gate. WWE and UFC will also be massive when it comes to cashflow. Through this whole merger, Triple H will also keep his position in WWE as Chief Content Officer.
AEW is currently affiliated with the Warner Bros. Family, with AEW programming airing on TNT and TBS. Keep checking back with Ringside News for way more on this story, and many more in the pro wrestling world.
