Tony Khan Addresses CM Punk’s Claim He Paid For His Own Medical Care In AEW

CM Punk’s arrival in AEW was met with significant fanfare, seemingly setting the stage for a triumphant chapter in his career. However, his time with the company took an unexpected downturn when he was released last year, culminating in a disappointing outcome. Punk claimed that he paid for his own medical care in AEW and now Tony Khan has addressed the same.

In 2021, CM Punk made significant impact by joining AEW, swiftly becoming central figure in the promotion. His crowning achievement came at Double or Nothing 2022 when he secured the AEW World Championship. However, his reign was plagued by injuries, including torn triceps, following the controversial Brawl Out incident at AEW All Out 2022.

Despite these setbacks, Punk returned to the spotlight in June 2023 as a key figure on AEW Collision. Unfortunately, his time with AEW came to an abrupt end due to an incident involving Jack Perry, resulting in the termination of his contract.

During the AEW Dynasty media call, a caller asked about CM Punk’s assertion that he paid for his own medical expenses while working with AEW. AEW President Tony Khan responded by saying that the company generally covers medical costs for its talent, especially when injuries occur during matches.

Khan expressed doubt about Punk’s claim and said he would need to look into the matter further. If Punk’s claim were found to be accurate, Khan assured that AEW would reimburse him for the costs.

CM Punk also snubbed AEW in big way recently, which is not surprising considering how his tenure there ended. Regardless, it is clear AEW and CM Punk are not on good terms and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
