Tony Khan Addresses AEW’s Possible Arrival in Puerto Rico

AEW has seen a lot of growth and changes over the past five years, especially when it comes to expanding outside the United States. In light of this, Tony Khan has revealed if there is a chance of AEW being held in Puerto Rico.

AEW has held shows in the United Kingdom as part of All In, but many fans feel there are even more places outside The United States that the company could definitely be a part of.

While speaking on the post-AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan was asked about AEW possibly making its way to Puerto Rico and holding an event or show there.

Tony Khan was enthusiastic about the prospect of AEW making its debut in Puerto Rico, highlighting how it would be a significant milestone for the global wrestling promotion. He noted that AEW has already performed in many great countries and territories worldwide, and adding Puerto Rico to that list would be a great achievement.

Khan emphasized Puerto Rico’s rich history of professional wrestling and mentioned that some of the greatest wrestlers in the world have competed there. He also pointed out that several top AEW stars, including Jon Moxley, have wrestled in Puerto Rico before joining AEW. Khan believes that bringing AEW to Puerto Rico would be an incredible milestone for the company.

“I think it would be great for AEW to make our debut in Puerto Rico. I would love that. We’ve had AEW in so many great countries and territories all over the world, and bringing AEW to Puerto Rico would be another great milestone in the history of this global wrestling promotion. In a country and a territory, Puerto Rico, that has had an amazing, amazing history of pro wrestling. Some of the greatest wrestlers in all the world have wrestled there, and a lot of the top stars in AEW have gone to Puerto Rico and wrestled before they came to AEW—Jon Moxley being one of them. A lot of our top stars have participated and wrestled in Puerto Rico, but we’ve never gone there as a company. AEW—I think that would be an amazing milestone for us, absolutely.”

Backlash 2023 was held in Puerto Rico and the crowd was electric from start to finish, further elevating the event to new heights. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if AEW will end up going to Puerto Rico somewhere down the line, as fans would love to see that happen.
