The Undertaker Would’ve Loved WrestleMania Match Against Steve Austin

The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania remains one of the greatest streaks in the history of the business. Brock Lesnar ended his streak but it remains a controversial topic even now. In light of this, Kevin Nash made it clear that he believes Bray Wyatt should have ended the streak.

The Undertaker’s iconic streak came to an end at WrestleMania 30 in 2014 when he was defeated by Brock Lesnar. This event sent shockwaves throughout the pro wrestling world, marking the conclusion of his streak after 21 consecutive wins.

It has been ten years since the loss and it is still one of the most talked-about decisions in the history of professional wrestling. Quite a few people still believe Brock Lesnar should have never been the one to end the streak.

During an April 2024 Patreon Q&A session, The Undertaker speculated about what might have happened if he had faced Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania. He suggested that had they ever wrestled at the event, Austin might have been the one to break the streak long before it reached the heights it did.

“It’d have to be Stone Cold. That’s really one of the only guys I didn’t get to work with at Mania. That would have been huge. The streak may have gotten broken earlier, but still, it would have been nice to work with Steve at Mania.”

The Undertaker acknowledged that Austin was on an unparalleled level of popularity and overness during his career. He noted that the audience might have had mixed feelings about Austin breaking the streak, with some fans loving it and others hating it, much like any major decision in wrestling. Despite the potential controversy, The Undertaker expressed his desire to have worked with Austin at WrestleMania, stating that it would have been a huge match.

“Steve was over at a level… That was just a whole nother level that he was over at. It would probably be, just like anything else, half the people would love it, half the people would hate it. That’s how it is. Everybody has an opinion but that’s the guy that I would have liked to work with at Mania that I never got a chance to.”

Even Jim Ross previously stated that The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak should have continued. The Deadman is currently enjoying life after retirement and fans will always appreciate him for all he did for the business, but many will always feel that the streak never should have ended.
