WWE saw The Rock return at SmackDown this week in Denver, and the response has been massive. We previously reported that his return video generated over 1 million views on YouTube in a matter of hours, but they also did big engagement across all platforms.
WWE’s videos featuring The Rock’s return on Friday’s edition of SmackDown have generated remarkable viewership numbers. Fans were obviously very happy about seeing The Great One in a WWE ring again.
In the opening segment of the show, The Rock made an unexpected return, intervening in the confrontation between Pat McAfee and Austin Theory. Following a physical altercation, the Hollywood star delivered a Spinebuster and a People’s Elbow to Theory.
The former WWE Champion also appeared in backstage segments alongside John Cena. The Rock received an enthusiastic response from the Denver, Colorado crowd during his entrance, and his return garnered significant attention online, with videos related to his comeback accumulating millions of views.
According to Sean Sapp’s post on X, The Rock’s return video amassed over 100 million views across all of WWE’s social media platforms within one day.

As of this writing, the full 13-minute segment has garnered over 3.4 million views on YouTube. Meanwhile, the backstage video featuring The Rock and John Cena has reached 1.5 million views, and The Rock’s entrance video alone currently stands at 803,000 views on the platform.
Among the non-Rock-related videos from SmackDown on YouTube, the most-watched was the highlights of the segment where Santos Escobar requested a US Title match, amassing 356,000 views.
There has been considerable speculation about whether WWE is contemplating moving the rumored Rock vs. Roman Reigns match to the main event of WrestleMania 40 in April. The Rock has also shared insights into the scrapped plans for this match.
