Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s name is known far and wide for being one of the biggest and most influential stars in the pro wrestling business. His influence in the industry is known far and wide. Many accuse him of being selfish and now he was defended for the same.
The Rock certainly had a pretty bad start in WWE as almost everyone hated his Rocky Maivia character. The infamous ‘Die, Rocky, Die’ chants are something no one will ever forget, especially The Rock.
While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, ex-WWE personality Jonathan Coachman defended The Rock for being selfish in WWE by stating that everyone had to be selfish in WWE back in those days
“I hate when people say ‘Oh, The Rock was selfish back then,’” Coachman said. “Everybody had to be selfish back then. People don’t understand; they look at what it is now.
They had to be because everybody fought to get in that spot,” Coachman continued. “If more … wrestlers fought today to get in that spot, I think we’d have better storylines. We’d have more competition. We’d have better promos. … I really believe that.”
The Rock’s father also never told him that pro wrestling is scripted. We’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for The Great One, as fans want to see him back on WWE television.
