Tetsuya Naito Crowned New IWGP World Heavyweight Champion at 2024 AEW Forbidden Door

The cross-promotion spectacle AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 saw a spectacular showdown between AEW’s Jon Moxley and Japanese star Tetsuya Naito, with Moxley’s IWGP World Heavyweight title hanging in the balance.

Ever since Moxley won Japan’s top gold, he has been a target for every superstar from the native land, with Tetsuya Naito getting the opportunity courtesy of NJPW and AEW’s annual collaborative event.

The action between two top-tier in-ring talents went back and forth, spilling everywhere at ringside. Both men delivered heavy blows and moves in a classic wrestling match, displaying physicality and stakes higher than ever.

Towards the end of the highly exhilarating showdown, as Moxley failed to get the three count after thunderous moves, he grabbed the chair. But the Japanese official threw it aside so as not to let him use it. This led Naito to plant with a reverse slam and pin his shoulders to the mat to become the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
