Swerve Strickland Becomes #1 Contender For AEW World Championship on 3/27 AEW Dynamite

The fans in attendance at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, QC for tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite witnessed one of the most exciting main event matches in recent memory with Swerve Strickland rising above to secure an opportunity many believed he rightfully deserved.

The owner of Swerve’s house was set to collide with Don Callis faction member and ‘The Alpha’ Konosuke Takeshita with the winner crowned as the new No.1 Contender to Samoa Joe’s AEW World Championship who was watching the match from backstage.

Swerve Strickland proved his worth as a top-tier challenger for AEW’s top prize after his impressive performance at AEW Revolution and was looking at a one-on-one opportunity against Joe for the title. On the other hand, Takeshita has already made his mark as a high-caliber AEW attraction and this match was the all-important chance he needed to transcend to the top of the conversation.

The main event match was an excellent sight of a fast-paced and highly exhilarating in-ring wrestling bout with the fans firmly in Swerve Strickland’s corner. However, that did not affect Konosuke Takeshita’s game who brought the fight to Strickland as a huge opportunity hung in the balance.

The closing moments of the classic wrestling match saw multiple counterattacks between both competitors until Swerve Strickland found the opening to connect with the Swerve Stomp and the Big Pressure on Takeshita to pin his shoulders on the mat, much to the disappointment and anger of the champion, Samoa Joe as seen right after his win.

Securing the important victory, Swerve Strickland has finally earned his one-on-one showdown against Samoa Joe for the AEW World championship at AEW Dynasty and has the opportunity to ascend to the next level to cement himself as the top dog of the All Elite landscape.
