Sting has been a member of the AEW family for over three years and is currently involved in one of the major storylines in AEW. He cut a promo from the heart last week on Dynamite and it appears that promo has been dubbed as the very best promo he has ever done.
In the recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting and Darby Allin appeared via video to reflect on The Young Bucks’ attack on Sting’s sons a couple of weeks ago on Dynamite.
While speaking on his My World podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett talked about Sting’s promo on AEW Dynamite last week. Jarrett was incredibly impressed by Sting’s promo and dubbed the promo as the best he had ever done.
“I think it’s the very best promo he’s ever done. I gotta be careful because I don’t want to blur the lines because there was no blurring of the lines. Sting is going through a real life situation with the passing of his father, and when you have those kinds of emotions, raw, and touched on about his own mortality. I’ve had those exact same thoughts with the passing of my father.”
Jeff Jarrett further noted that Sting’s promo felt like the final babyface promo in his career and he felt that it was directly from Sting’s heart, which was a major deal for him.
“Sting started in ’85. Here we are almost 40 years. The identity of who Steve Borden is. I truly believe that Steve is really ready to close the book on his wrestling career. I may be wrong, but my gut tells me in a lot of ways Sting in that promo was his final, and that’s I feel this can be kind of shallow, but it’s like Sting’s final babyface promo that was heartfelt. Nobody had to be convinced if he really meant those words, or if that was a wrestling promo. I think that was directly from Steve Borden’s heart that I’m going to bring everything I have, and he’s done that over the last two years.”
”When he said he wasn’t just going to rest on my laurels, he’s kicked ass time after time after time on Dynamites or pay-per-views. Now, we are we four, five, six days removed from that promo, I think as time goes on, we’re going to know, wow, we’ll remember this promo because it was heartfelt and that was Steve Borden talking in a lot of ways to the wrestling universe like, ‘Folks, I’m gonna go out in a blaze of glory. I’m giving it all I got.’ I got chill bumps. Not many times do I watch things two or three times. I’ve watched it a couple of times and I could feel it. I felt for him, but it’s one of the magic moments I really believe that our wrestling industry can create.”
We will need to wait and see how AEW continues to develop the feud between Sting and Darby Allin against The Young Bucks on AEW television leading up to the Revolution pay-per-view, as his retirement match will be taking place this weekend.
