Rumors Swirl: Is Ronda Rousey Considering a UFC Comeback?

Speculation has arisen regarding the possible return of Ronda Rousey to the UFC, as she nears the end of her current stint with WWE.

Rousey has been absent from the fight game for several years following two consecutive losses. She lost her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015, suffering a knockout from a head kick. She then faced Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016, where she suffered a 48-second TKO defeat.

As previously reported, Rousey has predetermined end to her contract with WWE and is expected to conclude her time with the company after her ongoing feud with Shayna Baszler.

UFC fighter Chelsea Chandler recently discussed rumors of Rousey’s return during an interview with MMA Junkie. Chandler claimed to have heard that Rousey may be returning to the UFC as a featherweight fighter.

“I’ve been hearing Ronda is coming back. I’ve heard she’s coming back at 145. You never know… If I go out there and put on the performance I plan on putting (on), I’ll welcome her to 145. I think it would be a great fight. It has been a long time for her, and things change, people get better, and I think people are on to her one-trick-pony armbar. Money talks, and she would bring eyes to the sport again. I feel like her time in WWE is starting to go down, so I’d like to see it.”

Regarding Ronda’s return to UFC, it seems very unlikely. Ariel Helwani reported today via MMA Fighting that Rousey isn’t returning to the UFC after all, despite speculation going around online.

“Ronda Rousey is not considering a UFC comeback, I’m told. No truth to the rumors started yesterday.”

What are your thoughts on the speculation surrounding Ronda Rousey’s possible return to the UFC? Do you believe she should make a comeback in the octagon later down the road? Leave a comment.
