New WWE NXT Team Name Could Be Dig At AEW

A WWE Superstar’s name can make or break them in the company. The same is true for a tag team, and now we have a new name for an up-and-coming tandem on the NXT brand.

In a recent episode of NXT Level Up, a tag team match took place featuring Mark Coffey and Wolfgang of Gallus against Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe. Despite Dupont and Igwe having only a few matches on Level Up, it appears they may have chosen a new name for themselves.

During a backstage interview before their match, Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe repeatedly referred to themselves as “TNT.” While this name wasn’t reflected in the official graphics or listings, it’s the nickname they seem to be adopting. However, it’s worth noting that the use of “TNT” may not be official due to potential conflicts, such as the TNT network being associated with AEW.

In the past, D-Von Dudley’s sons, Terrence and Terrell Hughes, had used the name TNT, but they stopped doing so during their AEW Dark and Elevation matches. Whether Tyson and Tyriek’s use of TNT becomes official remains to be seen, but it’s the name they are currently using. There are also other ties to usages of TNT in the pro wrestling world that are quite interesting.

That is a very interesting name for a team, especially considering how TNT is the name of a network that currently houses WWE competition, but that doesn’t exclude TNT from becoming a WWE tag team name. We will have to see what happens with TNT.

It’s worth mentioning that TNT has yet to secure a victory in WWE, as they have primarily competed on NXT Level Up and have yet to appear on NXT TV. In another match on the same episode of Level Up, Gigi Dolin emerged victorious against Stevie Turner.
