MJF Reveals Why He Decided Against Shoulder Surgery During AEW Hiatus

MJF took several months off AEW television after Worlds End last year as he was dealing with numerous injuries. He then made his highly anticipated return at Double or Nothing and even made his in-ring return after months. With that said, MJF has now revealed why he decided not to undergo shoulder surgery during his AEW hiatus.

On the June 19th edition of AEW Dynamite, MJF and Rush squared off in an intense match that opened the show. This match turned out to be his first bout in well over six months and MJF looked to be in solid in-ring condition.

During his injury hiatus, there was a lot of concern about MJF’s well-being and recovery progress, as many fans felt he might just have to undergo surgery for his shoulder injury, among others.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, MJF was asked if he had shoulder surgery or he was banged up and needed rest. MJF mentioned that he opted for physical therapy over surgery after injuring himself as undergoing surgery would have put him on the shelf for six more months, which he could not afford to do.

”So I banged it up really bad, I tore up a bunch of crap. I opted to do PT as opposed to surgery, because surgery would have took me out for probably another six months and let’s face it, based on what had occurred while I was gone, I’m not sure if I had a company to come back to if I took off for another six months.”

MJF is set to square off against Hechicero at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view on June 30th, so we will have to wait and see how The Salt of The Earth will fare against The Alchemist in the end.
