MJF Addresses Why He’s Not Currently In Pursuit of the AEW Championship Title

The Salt of the Earth, MJF took an extended hiatus from AEW television following Worlds End event last year to recover from multiple injuries. He made his much-anticipated return at Double or Nothing to the ovation of the AEW fans.

On the June 19th edition of AEW Dynamite, the former AEW World Champion faced off against Rush in a highly intense match. This bout marked his first in over six months, and MJF appeared to be in excellent in-ring condition.

However, many expected that MJF would be inserted into the AEW World title picture right after his return. In recent interview on the Busted Open Radio, Maxwell addressed the situation. He revealed that the current champion, Swerve Strickland was operating on another level, and he did not wanted to go after him right now when he is not a 100% due to his shoulder issues.

“The Guy is absolutely locked in. He’s next level right now. And do I want to deal with him when he’s a 100% and I am still healing from a shoulde injury, do you think that’s bright Tommy? No.”

He claimed to be a smart worker and picked his own spots that worked well for his career. Having said that, MJF stated that the time is not right for him to pursue the AEW World Championship, but eventually, the title will be around his waist.

“I pick my spots. Everybody in this company is dumb, I’ll explain Why. Everybody in this company works hard. Working hard is for suckers tommy. It’s stupid. I work smart. I pick my spots. That title will be around my waist because I am the best professional wrestler in the world.”

The Salt of the Earth recently picked up huge victory over Hechicero at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. Moreover, he was spotted watching the main event for the AEW World Championship between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay, which could hint that he may go after the title sooner rather than later.
