MJF Absent from WWE Conversations Amid Contract Rumors

WWE has inked deals with some of the best talent the pro wrestling world has to offer. It appears that they won’t be locking down MJF after all.

MJF may frequently mention the “bidding war of 2024,” but it appears that his claimed leverage might not be as strong as he suggests. Despite MJF’s numerous WWE references, even during AEW programming, it seems that actual discussions between the two parties are absent. A recent report has brought to light some intriguing details regarding WWE’s interest in potentially bringing in MJF.

Haus of Wrestling reported that it is the belief within WWE that MJF may have quietly extended his contract with AEW. According to a senior WWE source, there have been no substantial negotiations between the two sides. This source emphasized that the notion of Friedman becoming a free agent in the near future is incorrect, and that they believe he has committed to AEW until 2027.

One WWE source dismissed the idea to the outlet, stating, “This is a completely in his head storyline.” Another source added, “1000%,” and mentioned being informed some time ago that MJF is bound by a long-term deal, which is why the 2024 narrative was no longer emphasized.

Ringside News reached out to a tenured member of the WWE creative team to ask about this story. We were able to confirm that it is the belief within WWE that AEW has already locked MJF into a new deal, and they are not bringing him up at all.

The report on MJF is accurate. WWE is under the impression he’s signed with AEW. And so, he’s not discussed.

MJF brings a lot to the table, but the big question is whether he would move the needle for AEW. The belief within WWE is that he’s locked into AEW for years to come. That being said, it appears that WWE fans will have to wait even longer to see if there is a chance that the company can snag him to a deal next time around.

We will keep a close eye on this story, and so many more, right here at Ringside News. Odds are, MJF will keep making a lot of noise in the pro wrestling world, but that doesn’t mean he will do it for WWE.
