Mercedes Mone Reveals Origins of Her Current Wrestling Name

Mercedes Mone was a massive name in WWE for several years under the name of Sasha Banks but after her WWE run ended, she changed her name to Mercedes Mone and now she has revealed the origins of her current wrestling name.

Mercedes Mone would part ways with WWE alongside Naomi back in May 2022 after both of them walked out on an episode of Monday Night RAW due to creative differences with Vince McMahon while they were still the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

At the start of 2023, the former Sasha Banks debuted her new ring name, Mercedes Mone. While speaking to HOT97, Mercedes Mone was asked how she came up with her current wrestling name.

Mercedes Mone explained that when she was deciding what she wanted to do in wrestling next, she asked herself what she wanted the most and answered “money.” She realized she wasn’t getting enough money at the time and concluded that money changes everything. This led her to adopt the name “Mercedes Mone.” She emphasized the importance of manifesting what you want and taking action when a name change happens.

“Then later on, when I was going through where I was going to be wrestling, I said, ‘Mercedes, what do you want the most?’ I said, ‘Money.’ ‘Mercedes, what are you not getting right now the most?’ I’m like, ‘Money.’ And I said, ‘What changes everything? Money.’ Yeah, so I said, ‘Mercedes Mone, that’s what we’re going to be, baby,’ and that’s exactly what I got. So when I tell you to manifest for what you want, go do it when the name change happens.”

Mercedes Mone also admitted that she felt she did not belong in WWE towards the end of her run. Nonetheless, Mone is clearly having the time of her life right now as the TBS Champion in AEW, so she is clearly making money the way she intended to.
