Kenny Omega Gives Honest Assessment of His ‘Brittle’ Physical Condition

Kenny Omega already had an impressive resume of 5-star matches and amazing Tokyo Dome encounters under his belt when he arrived in AEW. That company saw some intense battles for The Cleaner as well, and it has also taken a toll on him.

All Elite Wrestling superstar Kenny Omega has built a lengthy career in professional wrestling, characterized by his unwavering commitment to performing at a high level. This dedication has led to the creation of highly regarded matches and recognition as one of the premier wrestlers globally. However, it has also taken a toll on his physical well-being.

The extensive impact of Omega’s injuries became apparent to the public when he took a nine-month hiatus from wrestling following his defeat to Adam Page at AEW Full Gear on November 13, 2021. During this break, Omega underwent multiple surgeries, including procedures on his knees and to address an abdominal hernia. It was also disclosed that he had been grappling with vertigo while competing in his AEW World Championship reign.

Kenny Omega recently spoke with Bleacher Report about his health and noted that he is feeling the physical toll his body has been through over his career. He admitted that a “spontaneous slip” could derail everything.

“I’m getting to the age where I’ll feel great, and then I’ll spontaneously slip and fall on a banana peel, and then the next thing you know, I’ve got a broken hip. I’m starting to get brittle like that. You can feel great one day, and then the next day, it’s like, ‘Wow, I don’t know if I can do anything physical.’ When you get to around that time, you just go day-by-day, and you try to commit as best you can to injury prevention and injury management.”

As Omega carries on with his AEW career, he aims to prioritize his health while pursuing his wrestling goals. He is set to participate in a tag team match with Chris Jericho against the Young Bucks at AEW Full Gear on November 18th. This bout holds the promise of becoming the standout match of the event, as Omega remains committed to delivering exceptional performances for as long as possible.

We’re hoping that Kenny Omega has many amazing matches in his future. Now, we will have to see how Tony Khan books him, because he secured The Elite for another round of multi-year deals.
