Jon Moxley Addresses Fan Assumptions About WrestleMania 40 Appearance

WrestleMania 40 was a monumental event as Cody Rhodes ended up defeating Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Sunday, and now Jon Moxley addressed fans thinking he would be at WrestleMania 40.

The main event at WrestleMania 40 on Sunday showcased Cody Rhodes taking on Roman Reigns. It was filled with dramatic run-ins and nostalgic moments, culminating in Cody’s triumph as he overcame Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

In a surprising twist at the close of WrestleMania 40 Sunday, Seth Rollins made an unexpected return, dressed in his Shield attire, to back Cody Rhodes in his bout against Roman Reigns. However, his aid was brief, as he was quickly taken out by a chair shot, leaving him incapacitated.

The run-in by Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40 was preceded by The Shield theme song, leading some fans to speculate that Dean Ambrose might also appear at this significant event. However, that wasn’t the case.

Jon Moxley, in a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, addressed the rumors, revealing that he was actually sleeping in Japan when the event took place.

“I was asleep in Japan when that was going on,” Moxley said, who was in Tokyo for a tag team match with Shota Umino against Jack Perry and Ren Narita.

“When I woke up, I had these messages saying, ‘I thought you were coming out!’ And I was like, ‘Coming out where?’”

Jon Moxley added that while he appreciates the excitement and is flattered that people thought he might make a surprise WrestleMania appearance, he was literally asleep at the time. “It’s cool that people thought it was me. But I was asleep,” he concluded.

AEW President Tony Khan also confirmed that WWE did not approach AEW regarding the possibility of Jon Moxley making one-off appearance during the main event between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
