How Vince McMahon Told The Rock About His First Big Win In WWE

The Rock was involved in many amazing WWE angles, and an NBC show was even dedicated to the start of his career. Sadly, Young Rock was cancelled after three seasons, but there’s small chance that fans will see the rest of that story. The man himself certainly has a lot of stories to tell.

The Rock debuted in WWE at Survivor Series 1996. Recently, he remembered being informed about his victory in the match. He teamed up with Jake Roberts, Marc Mero, and Barry Windham against Crush, Goldust, Jerry Lawler, and Triple H, emerging as the sole survivor.

While speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, The Rock discussed receiving the news of his win from Vince McMahon and shared more details.

“Vince brings me in and says, ‘You’re gonna win the whole thing tonight.’ I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He goes, ‘You’re gonna win the whole thing. I’m gonna throw you right into the fire.’ I’ll never forget this. He’s like, ‘You’re either gonna f*cking sink or you’re gonna swim — it’s New York City. It’s up to you.’”

The Rock was also very grateful for everyone in that match. He followed that up to say, ““All those guys in the ring that night … I’ll forever be grateful for them because they allowed that to happen.”

We will obviously keep an eye on The Rock, and everything else he does, right here at Ringside News. He has been on quite a journey already, and that story isn’t finished yet.
