Former WWE Star Reveals He Was Nearly a Member of Evolution

WWE has seen numerous factions dominate the landscape of the company over the years, but very few could reach the level that Evolution has. That said, an ex-WWE star has claimed he was considered to be a part of the faction.

Maven holds the honor as the first Tough Enough winner back in the early 2000s, as he stayed with the company from 2001 to 2005 until his release. He had some memorable moments, especially with The Undertaker but Maven never quite stood out from the rest.

Evolution comprised of Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton and Batista, as they we founded in 2002. The faction would utterly dominate everyone in WWE until they eventually disbanded a few years later.

While speaking on his official YouTube channel, Maven noted he once heard “through the grapevine” that he was considered to be a member of Evolution before its inception back in 2002.

The wildest creative idea that was thrown my way was obviously the whole Evolution angle. At the beginning of the thought of there being an Evolution, it was always known that it was going to be Ric, Hunter, Randy, and then I think they were flipping back and forth between Dave and Mark Jindrak. I heard through the grapevine that they were thinking about putting me in it.

I don’t know how true that was. No one from the office ever mentioned anything to me. It was just, you know, just in passing that I would hear it. So whether it was true or whether I was ever in the mix between Ric and Hunter, I don’t know, but you asked if there was anything — any wild creative [ideas] I heard. That’s definitely one of the wildest ones I’ve heard.”

Maven was a part of the professional wrestling world as he was competing in the Figure Wrestling Federation. Regardless, Evolution will forever be considered one of the most impactful factions all of pro wrestling and that’s never changing.

What do you think of this story? Are you glad Maven wasn’t a part of the faction? Let us know in the comments section below!
