Buff Bagwell rose to prominence in WCW before transitioning to WWE, albeit with limited success. Unfortunately, his journey has been marred by personal struggles, particularly with substance abuse. Therefore, fans were elated to see his story on Dark Side of The Ring but it appears Booker T turned down an appearance on the show.
Booker T, who is currently employed by WWE, was recently approached by the producers of VICE’s Dark Side of the Ring to appear in the episode focusing on Buff Bagwell. This episode served as the second installment of the fifth season of the series.
While speaking on a recent edition of his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T disclosed that he was invited to appear on the Dark Side of the Ring episode focusing on Buff Bagwell but opted not to participate.
“Dark Side of the Ring reached out to me to be part of some of these series and episodes, but I declined because anything that happened with Buff Bagwell and I, anything I have to say about Buff Bagwell, it’s private,” Booker explained. “It’s something that’s internal, something that he and I know, and I’m not going to expose it or put it out there. I don’t think the world really needs to know what happened with Bagwell and I, and that night. The way it’s written is the way it’s going to be told from here on out. I won’t have anything to say about it.”
Booker T squared off against Buff Bagwell on the July 2, 2001, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. This marked Bagwell’s sole appearance in WWE and it is understandable why Booker T didn’t want to appear on Dark Side of The Ring, as fans have accepted it as well.
