Billy Gunn Admits He Was Upset Over Not Attending DX Reunion Show

WWE Hall of Famer Billy Gunn has seen a lot of highs and lows in his career, but his time in D-Generation X is one of the most memorable times of his career. With that said, he has admitted that he was upset about not being able to attend the 25th Anniversary of DX reunion show.

D-Generation X celebrated their 25th anniversary on the October 10, 2022, episode of WWE Raw with Triple H, Sean Waltman, Shawn Michaels, and Road Dogg. The fans were thoroughly engaged throughout the entire segment. However, Billy Gunn was notably absent due to his ongoing contract with AEW.

While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Billy Gunn explained his absence, attributing it to a miscommunication. He acknowledged that while he works for a different company, he understood the situation. He emphasized that if he could attend, he would, but if it wasn’t possible, he wouldn’t be upset.

Having spent a significant part of his life with WWE, he appreciated their desire for his presence. He recognized that if AEW had any issues or needs that conflicted with the reunion, he couldn’t attend and wouldn’t be angry about it. Gunn admitted he was upset because he wanted to hang out with his old friends and relive the moment, but ultimately, he had to prioritize the company that pays him.

“Yeah, it was just a miscommunication. It was trying to get (there) and believe you me, I get it. I work for a completely different company. If I can do it, fine. If I can’t get it I’m not gonna (be mad). I spent the majority of my life doing that company and being a part of it. So of course, they want me to be there.

“But if the company that I’m with now has some issues of what they need and what they want, and if it doesn’t work out, then I can’t go, I can’t be mad about it. You know what I mean? And was I upset? Yeah, cuz I want to hang out with the guys and relive that moment as much as you can. But if it doesn’t work for the company that pays me then I’m not gonna go.”

Billy Gunn was in action on the October 12, 2022 Dynamite episode where he squared off against Swerve Strickland. Gunn also revealed when he will consider retirement in AEW, so we’ll just have to see if he could ever have another reunion with DX somewhere down the line.
